  • Silicone
Silicone is a popular material and cleaning and maintaining it is simple. Because silicone is non-porous it can be washed with normal soap and water. It can also withstand high temperatures which means it can be cleaned in boiling water or even in the dishwasher.

    Jelly toys
These types of toys are especially popular with people who are trying to save their money. The main setback with jelly toys is that they are porous which means that using soap or any other form of cleaning agent is not recommended. To wash these toys simply use water.

    Latex Rubber
Like Jelly toys Latex rubber is porous and again should only be cleaned with warm soapy water. Never use rubbing alcohol or petroleum jelly with latex rubber toys because it will break down the latex over time.

    Black Rubber
Pure rubber is more brittle than latex, so these toys require a bit more care. After each use, wash your toy with warm water and an antibacterial soap. Do not use hot water on these toys! Hot water will remove oils from the toy causing it to become brittle and crack. Use only warm water! When using black rubber toys, avoid bouncing up and down on them as this can lead to cracking.

    Plastic
Plastic is similar to rubber in that it is an inflexible material. These are usually toys that contain batteries, and they need to be removed while cleaning the toy. This is a material that can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol, but rinsing it in water AFTER is a good idea to prevent any sensitivity to the alcohol.

    Cyberskin
Cyberskin toys are generally the more expensive types of sex toys on the market today, in part because they most closely resemble human skin. Cyberskin should never be boiled, but it can be cleaned with hot water and soap. You should also never use oil-based lubricant with cyberskin toys.

    Leather
Leather is often used in harnessesm whips and is easy to clean. Simply wipe down with a warm wet cloth and then allow to air dry.

    Glass
Glass toys are becoming more and more popular and they are amongst the simplest material to care for. Soap and water after each use is all that is required.

    Battery Operated Vibrators
Many vibes run on batteries and these need a little love and attention of their own to ensure that you get the best from them.

Between uses it's always a good idea to remove the batteries as they can leak and damage your toy if you don't. This is especially true if you go for long periods of time before reusing your toys.

Never immerse the battery compartment in water during cleaning. You should never immerse a vibrator in water anyway, instead simply wipe it down with a damp cloth.

If you do somehow expose your vibe's batteries to water, remove the batteries and use a hair dryer to ensure the area is completely dry before putting batteries back into the vibe.

    General Maintenance
Periodically you should inspect your toys for cracks and damage. Cracks and broken down rubber will harbor bacteria and even with the very best of cleaning still leaves the ability to give you something not so pleasurable. Also inspect for rust and tears and if you find any of the above the best sensible thing to do is to simply replace your toys.
